It’s all extremely annoying and cliche little girls with barely any personality.

You rarely see a true bishoujo anymore or a nice woman with alot of good traits anymore. Beautiful and Sexy Girls are pretty much dead now, everything has to be cute.

Being from the same studio, it has many of the same fluffy sensibilities one could attribute to K-On, but unlike K-On it also features substantial and dramatic story arcs, some of which (particularly toward the end of the show) are very affecting.

If “Tsundere-moe” counts, then I’d look at Toradora which also contains compelling dramatic arcs. It’s made by many of the same people as AnoHana, also mentioned in the article, but has comedic and slice-of-life moments, where AnoHana is drenched in heavy drama.
