But the film had an awesome mix of contemporary and retro, which I don’t feel any anime since then has been able to accomplish. [Maybe Hajime No Ippo, but then they just seem to hide that the manga takes place in the late 80s, early 90s.] But I have yet to finish Doomed Megalopolis, even though I just got the SE, but I did like what I saw of the animation, back in the Streamline days. So no comment there.
