Not too long ago, writer and staunch defender of Catholic dogma Brian Kelly wrote that anime was “cultish” and “very dangerous, to the soul and the mind.” Yay.

That’s partly why I like Barry, since he’s not stuck up about comics and games like other pols of his generation.

What anime set him off? Or does he have a daughter who won’t stop running around shrieking random Japanese words and getting hot and bothered over her latest “bishie?” Obviously I’m irritated and offended, not so much because of what he said (it’s a free country) but because there doesn’t seem to be any context, and all we’re left with is an ignorant blowhard in a place of power judging anime. With the sting of the Chris Handley case still being felt, anime fandom doesn’t need moronic comments like this skewing people’s view of the art.

I vote Democrat too, by the way.
